It is our INTENT at Moulsham Junior School to inspire a love for number and problem solving and to develop the inquisitive mind whilst providing the children with the tools to truly use and develop their own skill set through a Concrete, Pictorial and Abstract (CPA) approach. This approach enables children to first physically see and manipulate the maths and then progresses to images that inform and eventually children being able to efficiently work using more abstract methods. This will IMPACT on the children and their love of learning with them becoming more invested and enthusiastic about their own development, which, in turn will lead to the children pushing themselves to solve mathematical problems both within school and in the real world for example when going to the shops or negotiating pocket money. The impact on our children is clear: progress, sustained learning and transferrable skills. We intend to IMPLEMENT this through a broad and balanced curriculum and developing children’s mastery of the subject, where a love of learning is fostered and the children are encouraged to explore and deepen their own learning.
From a Remote Learning Mum; "I also really wanted to thank the teachers for their hard work in producing such fantastic English lessons this week- so much effort went into this and we very much appreciated it. We loved the teachers modelling their ideas, it helped so much."
From a Critical worker- "At this time, with families facing such challenges I feel grateful that he at least is afforded the safety and routine of school. It helps more than you might know."
