The Role of the Local Governing Body

As part of our Multi-Academy Trust, the Local Governing Body (LGB) plays an important role in supporting and championing Moulsham Junior School. Working in partnership with the Trust, Headteacher and senior leaders, governors help to ensure that our school remains a thriving, ambitious and inclusive place where every child can flourish.

The Local Governing Body provides local oversight and accountability, ensuring that the school's vision, values and strategic priorities are reflected in the experiences and outcomes of our pupils. Governors bring a range of professional skills and perspectives, offering both support and constructive challenge to help drive continuous improvement.

The Local Governing Body's key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting and upholding the school's vision, values and ethos.
  • Supporting the strategic priorities of both the school and the Multi-Academy Trust.
  • Monitoring pupil achievement, wellbeing, attendance and personal development.
  • Ensuring that safeguarding remains a central priority and that pupils are safe and supported.
  • Providing challenge and support to school leaders to help secure the best outcomes for children.
  • Acting as a link between the school, families and the wider community.
  • Celebrating the school's successes and advocating for its continued development.
  • Ensuring the voices of pupils, parents, staff and the community are heard and considered.

While the Trust Board holds overall responsibility for governance, finance and statutory compliance across the Trust, the Local Governing Body provides valuable local knowledge and insight, helping to ensure that decisions are informed by the unique needs and strengths of the Moulsham community.

Our governors are committed volunteers who share a passion for education and a desire to ensure that every child leaves Moulsham Junior School with the knowledge, skills, character and confidence to succeed both now and in the future.
